魏则西事件震惊全国，双语梳理事件关键信息

这个五一节，一个名叫魏则西的年轻人的死亡，将百度推上舆论的风口浪尖。

西安电子科技大学学生魏则西近日因身患滑膜肉瘤去世。在求医过程中，他通过百度搜索找到排名前列的武警北京总队第二医院（后证实其涉事科室被外包给“莆田系”医院），接受其“生物免疫疗法”治疗，耗资20多万元却治疗未果，最终延误了其他治疗时机。

我们来梳理一下这一事件中的关键信息。

魏则西称他通过武警北京总队第二医院获知免疫疗法。这种疗法利用病人自身的免疫系统培养出的细胞来抗击癌症。据媒体报道，华西第二医院免疫发育和免疫治疗实验室主任张志新表示，魏则西接受的DC-CIK细胞免疫治疗法起源于上世纪90年代的美国，由于近些年技术更新换代较快，最早的研究方法欧美早都不用了，但是国内部分机构的研发实力跟不上，因此只能沿用欧美老式的研究方法。

而有业内人士表示，细胞免疫治疗法在血液肿瘤治疗等领域有一些效果的。但魏则西事件的爆发将会让CIK、NK等细胞免疫治疗技术遭受质疑，如果信息不通畅不全面，甚至会导致整个细胞免疫治疗集体面临信任危机。Before Wei's death, he had posted about his experience on the Q&A website Zhihu, calling the treatment useless and criticizing Baidu's paid listing practice.

Paid listing is an Internet advertising model used to direct traffic to websites. The system, under which an advertiser pays a search engine for each time an ad is clicked, has long been a major source of revenue for Baidu.

竞价排名是一种将网络流量导向网站的互联网广告模式。广告客户按照广告被点击的次数向搜索引擎付费，一直是百度的主要利润来源。

比如在百度搜索“堕胎”，出现“推广”字样的网站和医院，都是给百度交钱做广告的。

Report said medical advertising makes up for 30% of Baidu’s ad revenue, and a big part of that comes from Putian hospitals, owned by businessmen from the southeastern Fujian province, which are notorious for selling medical treatments of venereal diseases and reproductive problems.

此前有报道称，医疗广告占百度广告收入的30%，而其中大部分广告都来自莆田商人经营莆田系医院。莆田系声名狼藉，通常瞄准性病、不孕不育等疾病招揽生意。

莆田系是莆田人所辖医院集合的简称，莆田人在全国各地开设私立医院，并逐步抱团形成一定的组织规模。魏则西事件中，武警北京总队第二医院的涉事科室即是被外包给“莆田系”医院。

事件发酵后，“莆田系”民营医疗机构的种种劣迹也被曝光出来，过度医疗（overprescription），虚假广告（false advertising），无证行医（practicing without a license）……成为伴随莆田系出现的高频词汇。

受此影响，百度在美上市股周一开盘大跌逾4%。

这已经不是百度第一次遭受舆论谴责。

In January Internet users rounded on the company after it emerged that Baidu had sold the rights to run an online group for haemophilia sufferers to a company that then filled it with dubious medical advice.

今年一月份，百度被曝出将血友病患者的贴吧卖给某单位，使得大量虚假医疗广告充斥贴吧，百度随后遭到网友炮轰。

《中国日报》的评论文章认为百度在中国搜索市场上形成了事实垄断（virtual monopoly），文章称：

The only way to stop such harmful activities is to break Baidu's search monopoly.

制止这类有害行为的唯一办法，就是打破百度的搜索垄断。
