会讲故事才是人生赢家丨Behavioral Question正确回答方式

做得好，还得说得好。...

什么是Behavioral question？谷哥不但会给你详细的解答，而且会给你一个Question List。对，你想的没错，面试官所有的问题都跟网上的类似。

标准问题的背后，面试官的心态各有不同。但是假设你是面试官，你在考察一个奇怪的菜鸟的时候，你想看到什么？

要是我，我就想看到一个自信幽默，举止得体而且有故事的人。

面试就是讲话，你不讲他讲，他不讲你接着。会聊天的人就不怕这个，你讲着这一句呢，对方已经琢磨这把你往下个话题里套。下套的过程就是讲故事，讲故事的时候就能把你各种各样的品质，能力，经验一个一个抖出来，而且一个包袱一个包袱落得踏踏实实，稳稳当当。

不会抖包袱？就去看一看郭德纲的相声，就是那个意思。说到要讲故事，Behavioral Question目的是什么？抖包袱的全过程就是一个Sell的过程，而且你要记住，别谦虚地给自己打折啊！咱们中国人喜欢表达自己谦虚的品德，但是在美国的面试中，我们的谦虚就变成了别人眼中里的平庸。

当然答案应该是基于事实，加上了一些修饰罢了。其实在跟你一同面试同一职位的所有人都在Sell自己，如果你不做，那你就是below average。

那准备哪些故事呢？一般要表达的个人品质应该有这几个方面：

• Communication: Give me an example of a complex process or task you had to explain to another person or group of people.
• Leadership: Tell me about a time that you took the lead on a difficult project.
• Teamwork: Do you collaborate well
• Time Management: Tell me about a time you had a conflict at work.
• Problem-solving: What was the best idea you came up with at your last job
• Biggest Failure: Tell me about a mistake that you made.

I have been working at the IT Services forover a year. My clients, in this case, are all professors. You know, professorsusually have solid control of their life and work for so many years, but they all encounter technical issues these days.My job is to help them to fix their technical problems. There was one time, an old professor had trouble finding herfiles in a window system. It turns out it was her own fault on making duplicates of shortcuts. She somehow blamed this on me since I came to help heronce before but the problem still existed.Well, in this job I have two really nice supervisors; they taught me how to talk and work with professors in this kindof situation. First I calmed down and let her calm down as well. I tried tothink in her shoes: we can’t expect everyone to have the same IT background asus, so it becomes acceptable and reasonable of her frustration. I was really patient and explained to her the cause of the problem. I even tried to walk her through several proper ways of duplicating files.It turned out that she was really satisfied about knowing how to fix her PC problem. I went to help her several times afterwards and we even become good friends.

比如：参加了中国学生会的晚会，你花了非常多的时间在上面。突然有一天，Project, Exam, 晚会统统在周五Due。你要怎么办？你可以回答，你预见到这样的情况，于是提前两周分析了自己该如何安排时间，很早就把难做的Project先做起来。然后表演那天有Exam冲突，你去找了你的Professor协商，提前把考试给做了。

记住，在Time management里面，尽量表现你在很多事情安排不过来时，以超强的预知能力、决策力，能早早把事情全部搞定，绝对不能延迟任何一个。我从自己的经验里面举例子。我要办一场晚会，因此我需要交很多朋友，因为在中国学生会里面，常常是朋友帮朋友的方式。首先要提前找到很多表演的人，之后就遇到了大家时间安排的问题，参与者临时取消的问题等等。

此时，作为一个leader我就要跟手下的组员们一个个安排任务和Deadline，催节目，催服装，催彩排等等，然后约定时间每周汇总，安排下期任务。还要强调最终的结果，比如晚会办得很好、多少人参加、被报道宣传等等。

每个人都有很多自己的故事。只要你肯写，肯花时间用英文表达出来，其实都非常简单。

而且，很多故事里面都会包含好几个品质，在讲故事的时候不要贪多，该强调Communication的时候就不要扯太多Leadership，即便他们密不可分。
