Viv Labs, the co-founder of Siri, is working on a better and smarter voice assistant that acts like a brain.

Siri's co-founders, Viv Labs, have been working on an intelligent assistant that is more knowledgeable than Apple's sassy voice assistant.

The new software is called Viv and it's powered by an AI brain that can do much more than just tell the weather.

Viv Labs will unveil its product for the first time on May 9 and demo several of its features.

The new voice assistant is capable of booking cabs, controlling smart home products and even ordering flowers. Of course, it can also play music, tell time and answer general questions.

这一新语音助手可以预定出租车、管控智能家用电器，甚至订购鲜花。当然了，它还可以播放音乐，告知时间以及回答常规问题。

However, the AI will be able to do this without redirecting users to apps or websites in order to complete tasks—which Google Now and Siri do.

It’s still unclear how Viv will be released, but it might come in a speaker like Alexa on the Amazon Echo, or it could be sold to a single company.

"Google Now has a huge knowledge graph-you can ask questions like 'Where was Abraham Lincoln born?' And it can name the city. You can also say, 'What is the population?' of a city and it'll bring up a chart and answer," Adam Cheyer, co-founder of Viv Labs, told Wired. "But you cannot say, 'What is the population of the city where Abraham Lincoln was born?'"

Viv will also be open system, which means that it'll be able to learn new skills and lines of code that can help users complete unique tasks.

The company has teamed up with more than 50 partners to expand Viv's skill set. Some of those partners include Uber, Grubhub and Zocdoc.

Media outlets, automakers and appliance manufacturers are currently in talks to help contribute to Viv's features.

"Our goal is ubiquity," said Dag Kittlaus, co-founder of Viv Labs. "There's no way to predict where that goes except to say we'll pick the path that gets us there. Either way, we will finish the job."

It's still unclear how Viv will be released into the consumer market, or if it'll be sold to a bigger company instead-much like Siri was sold to Apple.
