我学英语那些事...

At the moment to start my first word, it dates back to the year of 2000.Oops, that’s too far away ! It was in the year of 2001 when I started my English-learning which surely came earlier than the FIRST SNOWING OF 2002 ( a pop song )

落笔的那一刻，时光穿越回到2000年，哦，太远了，那是2001年我开始学英语的时候，比2002年的第一场雪来得早一些。

When in Grade 1 of my middle school,I got 59 in my 1st English exam,deluding me into thinking that the lessons were all taught by a PE teacher.

2001年初一，第一次英语考试59分，我以为教我们英语的是体育老师。Then in Grade 2,I didn’t pass any English exam for the whole school year, the reason behind which I could figure out was that I had my deskmates changed.

2002年初二，全年英语都没及格过，我想大概是因为换了个同桌。In Grade 3,I for the first time passed the English exam,scoring 62,making me  believe that’s the miracle of the year.

2003年初三，英语得了62分第一次及格，我想这是那年的“绝杀”...2003.初三A ten-yuan pirated CD of Oscar Songs had enlightened me that I should choose to be an English-major student. And I soon made great strides in my learning thanks to my teachers,friends and even anybody I rubbed shoulders with in the English Club.

一张十块钱的盗版奥斯卡CD让我茅塞顿开，最终我选择了英语专业。得益于良师益友，甚至是英语角里不知名的某某某，我的英语水平突飞猛进。

Then miracles followed:

紧接着，神奇的事情一波接着一波：

I felt like those teachers from different subjects were all my idols,but there was no Mrs Aoi Sora.

听说读写各科的老师都是我崇拜的偶像，当时还没有什么姓苍的老师。

I was so nervous that I felt as if the earth were shaking when a foreign teacher asked me questions in front of hundreds of students.

在一百多名学生面前被外教叫起来做英语问答时，我紧张到感觉地壳在震动！I had the sense of honor when my friends in the English Club asked me to leave my QQ/phone number.

当英语角的小伙伴们问我要QQ号和手机号时，顿时觉得自己好有存在感。

My friends and I went to some foreign teachers’ homes in Nanning to have fun with them. And thanks to them we all greatly improved our oral English. And it was them who  helped launch V-talK.

和小伙伴们组队去南宁的外教家玩（ceng)得(chi)飞(ceng)起(he),谈天说地，我们的口语也越来越6。At that time:

那时候的我I dreamt of speaking English well and getting rid of Chinglish.

梦想着说一口流利的英语，摆脱中式表达。I dreamt of acquiring English certificates instead of having nothing.

梦想着考英语证书，不再无证经营。

I dreamt of being able to read English newspapers and listen to English radios without having to refer to Chinese subtitles.

梦想着能不借助中文字幕看书看报听广播。I dreamt of working in more exotic places instead of staying in Mong Cai,Vietnam.

梦想着去更远的地方工作生活，而不是整日呆在越南芒街。While there is a search engine called “ a hundred degrees”(Baidu) in China, the temperatures in UAE is up to 50°C degrees. Believe it or not, you could ask the ‘100-degree’ search engine. On May 13,2008, I took a budget airliner to Dubai,UAE,a city of luxury lying in the center of the desert. I barely knew what to do there, just planning to earn as much money as I could to support my family in the domestic. Anyway, English is commonly used there, and I knew what I should do was to make it count.

中国有百度，阿联酋有50度，不信你问百度。2008年5月13日，一张特价机票把我带到那个豪华的沙漠之都---阿联酋的迪拜。我当时不知道我要为国家做些什么，那就多挣些票子寄回国内吧！反正那里英语通吃，我要看看我的英语值多少碗螺狮粉。You would see few English-speaking people calling each other’s names with the words of f*** and s***, let along fighting against each other when confronted with divergences.

在那里，你会知道外国人很少说F和S开头的脏话，更别说有矛盾就立马干一架了。有本事的人都用英文讲道理。You would find how much English counts when applying for visa and ID cards, writing your CVs and drafting business plans.

你会知道申请签证、办理身份证明、写个简历甚至起草商业计划书时，英语有多么重要。

You would see how much convenience English brings to you when trying to acquire the local driving license, because you can avoid many tickets since you are able to read the local traffic rules in English.

你在当地考驾照时，你会知道英语会带给你各种便利。因为你可以了解当地N种不同的交通规则，从此远离罚单！

You would see that when there comes business opportunities,it’s not hard to make a killing if you know the market rules and speak smartly.

你会知道当谈生意的时机来了，把握好市场规则和说好话的人是不难赚到票子的。You  would learn a lot about your daily life,multi-cultures, your career and your studies,and the happy ending of learning English.

你会知道的还有很多，你的日常起居，衣食住行、国内外巨大的文化差异、你的学业和事业、学英语的归宿......

Back to the day of getting that Oscar CD, If I could choose to learn English or not ,you’ll  know what I would say : Do you really think I have any god-damn choice ?

如果让我选择回到得到那张奥斯卡音乐光盘的那天，我是否还愿意选择学习英语，我会说，这还有得选吗？！
