 PROJECT 1

PREGNATING BARRIER ISLAND

• Location: Staten island, NY

If we observing the earth as globalscale by compressing time with 10x speed, itis easy to realize that the landscape phenomenon at certain location iskeep shifting. Things are emerging, developing, dominating, disappearing, extinction.Multiple phenomena interacting with each other and causing the shift. Thedesign is trying to using & adjusting some of the phenomena &activities on the site in order to ' pregnating ' a barrier island chain. Most of existing nature powers around, such as northeast wind, ocean wave, even storm, are considered as wild, chaos nutritions. Temperate designintervention would directing these nutritions. Let them pregnating &feeding a new barrier island which would be considered as a linear costalpark & shield system for coastal neighborhood.

 PROJECT 2

SOUND FIELD• Location: Western Ghats, India

Soundfield envisions sound as the lens through which to view the landscape of the Western Ghats. By gaging the intensity and location of specific sounds within the landscape, Soundfield seeks to realign human and wildlife transit within the Western Ghats. Focusing on elephant corridors which are based on ecologies of sound, Soundfield defines divergent areas of elephant and human traverse. By generating types of sounds that attract, or dissuade these distinct groups Soundfield proposes the infrastructure to mitigate navigation between humans, elephants and other wildlife through the Ghats.

SINGAPORE RAIL CORRIDOR

OMA & OLIN

• Location: Singapore

"The rail corridor presents a unique insert in the city. Its presence is discreet, its impact large. It combines the smallest possible surface with the largest possible interface with its surroundings. It cuts through all segments of the city, revealing Singapore’s composition like an X-ray. Progression along this line is like the unfolding of a Chinese scroll that tells the story of Singapore. It represents the perfect stage to enact its reinvention: the sum total of past experiments becomes the perfect setting for new experimentation."

-Rem Koolhaas
