深度访谈 他是斯坦利杯亚洲第一人！Jim Paek

被喻为韩国冰球世界里的“林书豪”...

Jim Paek，一个韩国名字，在斯坦利杯厚厚的底座上可以找到的，并且1991年和1992年两度被镌刻上去，跟随的是匹兹堡企鹅队。目前，49岁的JimPaek，官拜韩国国家男子冰球队主教练，身兼韩国冰球协会冰球事务总监，使命是力争带领韩国队跻身平昌冬奥会12强之列。JimPaek，音译为“白智善”，韩国冰球世界里的“林书豪”。



白智善自小就有成为韩国国手的夙愿，随家人移居加拿大入籍，爱上冰球。1985年，18岁白智善被NHL入围选秀第九轮第170顺位相中，经过五年历练，加盟企鹅队，成为在NHL效力的第一位韩裔选手，一飞冲天。



1990-91年间，白智善还曾入选加拿大国家队，出场48次，这是一个了不起的成就。两度随企鹅队在斯坦利杯中夺冠后，白智善的球衣被高高地悬挂在NHL名人堂中。

告别企鹅队后，白智善先后转投国王队和参议员队。喜欢四海为家的白智善日后还曾到英国的冰球联赛中打球，回归美国后在一些低级别冰球联赛(AHL)中度过最后的冰球岁月，并带队打入联赛总决赛。



在美国密西根家中，白智善接受采访时表示，“我坚信韩国队会有进步的，我们首先要进军世界前16名，渴望进入奥运会。如果不能去平昌奥运会，但至少我们要有充足的竞争力，每天都进步。”

白智善深知韩国冰球底子较为薄弱，2018年的奥运使命不过是他工作中的一部分，更为长远的目标，是要花费十年到二十年的时间，将韩国塑造为真正的冰球国度。除了锻造国家队之外，头等大事就是仿照美国和加拿大加快建设青少年冰球体系，去说服那些热心于短道速滑的少年们可以倾心于冲撞和射门，未来十年将充分检验这份努力的成果如何。



此前，香港冰球训练学校高级经理Matthew诚邀Jim Paek分享他的冰球历程和心得，希望通过了解Jim Paek的故事，让更多有意于冰球的青少年能够获益。

访谈译文如下——Q1.

Matthew：When did you start playing hockey?

你何时开始打冰球?

Jim : I started when I was 7 years old, nowadays that’s late, I was late but I started when I was 7 in Canada, in Toronto.

我在7岁时开始打冰球。相比起现在的球员，7岁算起步的有些晚，我在加拿大多伦多的时候开始学的。

Q2.

Matthew：What makes you love hockey?

是什么让你喜欢上冰球?

Jim : You know, I don’t know…  the sport is such a fantastic sport, and…the smell of the ice, just being around the rink…the hard work, the discipline, the learning and getting better and having results, it’s just such a fantastic sport…  there are so many parts of it that I really enjoy.

我也不知道…. 冰球是一个很奇妙的运动… 冰上的气味… 站在冰场内的感觉… 那些汗水… 自律性… 不断练习而进步....继而见到成果… 这个运动的每一样东西我都很享受。

Matthew：If you have to sum up in one word, how hockey attracts you

如果用一个词来形容冰球对于你的意义，你觉得会是什么？

Jim : So many different…one word…that’s a tough question… really hard… one word to describe the game you love, it is… it’s a tough question… so many words to describe the game… hockey for me is life, yeah; everything I have is because of hockey so… it’s my life.

这很难呢… 冰球对我来说是 “生命”… 我现在所拥有的都是冰球带给我的…. 冰球就是我的生命。

Matthew：Any sports you like other than hockey?

除了冰球外，你还喜欢什么运动?

Jim : You know what, I enjoy all sports.  I played soccer, I played lacrosse, I played basketball, volleyball, I enjoyed playing all different sports and…golfing now but with kids you don’t golf as much but you know I enjoy sports in general, all sports.

我所有运动也享受。足球，曲棍球，蓝球，排球都是我喜欢的运动… 现在自己有小孩比较难抽时间打高尔夫球… 不过整体来说所有运动我都喜欢。

Q5.

Matthew：Can you briefly, in three sentences, tell us about your experience in professional hockey?

可否简单地用3句话告诉我们，你在专业冰球领域的体验?

Jim : My experience in professional hockey was a dream come true because a very small percentage of hockey players make it to the NHL and play at a professional level, and…I was very blessed and fortunate enough to play this wonderful sport.

我的NHL经验对我来说简直是梦想成真，因为只有一少部份球员能够晋身NHL成为职业球员…. 而我很幸运地能够参与。

Matthew: Very good, because not a lot of Asians in the NHL in the last 20 years.

Matthew: 这点非常好，因为在这20年间只有很少亚裔球员能够成功进入NHL。

Jim : you know what and again I was very lucky my parents supported me coming from a Korean background, education was very important to them and for me to pursue hockey I needed a lot of support from my parents and they supplied that support and they loved the sport also so it worked out very well.

我很幸运，我的父母很支持我当运动员，尤其是在韩国传统的文化背景下，学业对他们来说很重要，然而他们也给了我很大的支持。

Q6.

Matthew : So do you think team work is the most important component in ice hockey?

你认为冰球最重要的是团队精神吗?

Jim : Absolutely, you have to have a structure, you have to have a team concept , the individuals don’t win the game, the team wins the game.  and there are so many parts to that and everybody has to fit that piece of the puzzle, so it’s very important, team is very important.

绝对是，你需要有团队的概念及结构，仅凭单个球员不能赢到冠军，只有一整个团队才能赢到冠军。每位球员只是其中一块拼图，所以团队精神很重要。

Q7.

Matthew : What is the most memorable game in your hockey career?

那场比赛是你职业生涯里面留有最深刻印象?

Jim : Well, I have to say winning the Stanley Cup against Minnesota that first Stanley Cup, scoring a goal, raising the cup that has to be my most memorable moment.

那一定是对战明尼苏达州而第一次赢得斯坦利杯那场赛事，那场比赛我也有入球呢… 举起斯坦利杯那刻一定是最难忘的时刻。

Q8.

Matthew : How would you comment about the first Chinese team in the KHL ?

你如何评论第一队中国球队加盟KHL?

Jim : I think that’s fantastic and that’s needed, my experience is that you need that high level of competition, you need that experience to play at that level so I think it’s very important for China to be a part of that, I think it’s a great opportunity for them and I wish them all the best of luck in the world.  

我觉得真的太棒了，而这是必须的。我的经验是你必须要参与高水平的赛事来自我提升，所以现在中国能够有这种机会是很好的。我也祝福中国队。

Q9.

Matthew : So what do you think about the 2018 Pyeongchang and the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics both in Asia?

你对亚洲连续举办2018平昌及2022北京东奥有什么看法?

Jim : You know I think that’s great, that’s expanding this wonderful sport globally from worldwide…and there’s not a better place to showcase this game in Asia in the Olympics, I think it’s fantastic, and hopefully we’ll have some success in Pyeongchang and that will carry over into Beijing…I think…globally it’s great, it’s fantastic.

我觉得这是很好的一件事，能够将这个奇妙的运动带到全球，而冬奥就是将这项运动带给亚洲观众的最理想平台。我希望我们能在平昌冬奥取得一点成绩继而带到北京冬奥会。

Q10.

Matthew : What is your advice for the hockey development in China?

你对中国发展冰球有甚么建议?

Jim : Don’t worry about the final destination, work the progress, the process, it’s a very important …. To have that plan and achieve by the process.

不要担心最终目的地，比较重要的是要有确实的计划，跟着计划但记紧要享受过程。

Q11.

Matthew : So one last question, do you have any message to any hockey fans in Asia?

最后一个问题: 能否请对亚洲球迷说几句话？

Jim : Watch the Olympics… we need more hockey players, young kids to play this wonderful sport, to grow in Asia.  I think it’s very important that watching the games, having that hockey experience, and once you step on that ice as a young kid you’ll never take your skates off so I think it’s fantastic.

观看奥运会…我们需要更多冰球员，希望更多年轻球员能够参与这个运动，让冰球在亚洲继续成长。我觉得现场观看冰球赛事也很重要，这对小球员来说是很好的经验。
