He is a bearded guy without a tall stature
but with a pair of eyes filled with calmness,
concentration and strength.
初次见面时，
他递给我一本博士论文，
我翻开，在扉页上看到一行小字：
我在写它时爱上你了。
It’s a doctoral thesis that he gave to me
when we first met.
I opened it and found a line of words
on the title page,
which read, I fell in love with you while working on it.
我们去西湖划船，
他给我讲物理学家们的各种趣事。
We went paddle-boating in West Lake.
He kept telling me something funny about physicists.
讲多了，便忘记了时间，落日前，
我们狼狈地被机动船给突突拖拉回去。
Time passed so quickly in his funny stories
that our paddle boat ended up in being
pulled back by an engine boat before sunset.
我很喜欢这个把所有想法写在脸上的聪明人，
我们彼此曾经认为对方像天空一样遥不可及，
现在，我们决定余生在一起。
I was so fond of this smart guy
with all his thoughts shown on the face.
We both had thought it impossible
to reach the other,
until then we decided to spend
the rest of our life together.
但是，对于家人来说，
我的选择不在正轨上，
他们无法想像我去遥远而陌生的地方，
过不能天天吃鱼的生活，
泪水朦胧了他们的眼睛。
My choice was not a good one on track,
at least to my family.
Their eyes were filled with tears,
which showed that they couldn’t even imagine
how my life would be like in an unfamiliar place
far away without fish as daily food.
但是我不想放弃，
也没有必要放弃，
我们每一个人都不是傻瓜，
关于爱情这件事可不能优柔寡断，
我相信自己有决心安排好任何事。
But I didn’t want to give up ‘cos I didn’t have to
And there’s no need to be indecisive in love.
I was positive that
I could handle everything in my own way.
After all, we’re not born to be a fool.
我将不能伴着夜晚潮水的声音入眠了，
再见了，我的海湾，
我将带着他，
还有我未来的孩子一起会经常回来的，
我有一颗渔夫般征服未知水域的心，
大海是知道的。
太阳升起的地方，
是我与我的祖辈们全力以赴去往的地方。
I would no longer fall asleep in sound of tides.
Goodbye,my beloved bay.
I will come back together
with him and our future kids.
The sea knows well that I have a heart of conquering
unknown waters like a fisherman does.
Where the sun rises is always the direction
that I head to with full strength,
just as my ancestors did.
