It is my honour and privilege to have the opportunity to speak to you this morning at your weekly flag raising ceremony. As Headmaster of Dulwich College Suzhou for the last four years, it has been wonderful to develop a deep cooperation with Suzhou High School SIP and in particular to work with Principal Jiang and her leadership team.

首先我感到非常荣幸被邀在此作国旗下讲话。作为苏州德威英国国际学校校长，对于过去四年里我校跟苏州中学园区校，特别是跟姜校长和其他校领导的深层次合作感到欣慰。



This will be my last opportunity to speak to you as Headmaster of Dulwich College Suzhou. In August, I will move to Shanghai to take on new responsibilities for Dulwich College International across China. I know that I will have the opportunity to visit Suzhou and hope that the friendship between our schools continues to deepen.

今天是我最后一次作为苏州德威学校校长为大家演讲。因为八月份我将移居上海就任德威教育集团中国区域的新职位。我仍将有机会来访苏州，希望我们两校间的友谊深厚长存。



Our schools also have a common link with Dulwich College in London and I am pleased that four Suzhou High School SIP students are spending time at Dulwich College Suzhou preparing for their future studies in the United Kingdom. I would like to congratulate our two Dulwich Scholars, Howard JIAO and William MA for being awarded a scholarship to Dulwich College London from September 2016 to study for A levels. There is a proud history of Suzhou High School boys being awarded scholarships and attending Dulwich College London. Many of them go on to further study at Cambridge University and other prestigious higher education institutions around the world. These boys have an amazing record of success and I know that this partnership will continue to achieve great things. I will continue to check up on the Suzhou High School SIP scholars whenever I visit Dulwich College in London.

我们两校和伦敦德威学院同样关系紧密。我非常高兴苏州中学园区校四名学生目前正在苏州德威国际学校学习，为即将赴英国求学做准备。祝贺焦立豪和马成哲荣获“德威”奖学金，他们将于今年9月赴伦敦德威学院开始A levels的学习。苏州中学园区校男生荣获伦敦德威学院奖学金已经形成了让我们引以为豪的历史了。其中很多学生将继续在剑桥大学或其他世界知名学府深造。这些优秀的男生记录了成功，我坚信两校合作会再创佳绩。任何时候去伦敦德威学院，我会一如既往的看望来自苏州中学园区校的同学们。



As China continues to reach out to the world, it is increasingly important for you student to remember that you are part of a local and global community. China has had a powerful and positive influence in so many parts of the world and as the second largest economy in the world, there are great impacts through trade and international business. As potential future leaders in China, you have a responsibility and an opportunity to represent you country and your culture to the world. With the academic record of Suzhou High School SIP, I know that you will represent your school and your country well.

随着中国不断地与世界接轨，对于同学们来说，记住自己作为本土成员同时也是地球村的一员是至关重要的。中国在全球很多领域都有着强大的积极影响，作为世界第二大经济体，中国在国际业务和贸易方面有着重要的影响。作为中国未来领导人的潜在力量，你们有机会也有责任将你的国家和文化带向世界。带着在苏州中学园区校获得的学业成就，你们将会很好地为自己的学校和国家代言。



You should also remember where you come from. Your family will always be the most important relationship in your life. Never forget your parents and your family who have supported you as grow. You will need their continued support in different ways as you progress into university and into life in the wider world. Do everything that you can to prepare yourself academically, morally, physically and spiritually for the challenges of life that you will have to face and seek help and guidance from your parents and teachers who are there to support you.

你们要始终牢记自己来自何方。家人永远是人生中最重要的组成部分。永远不要忘记父母和家人在你们的成长过程中的付出。当你步入大学走向更广阔的世界时，仍然需要他们各种形式的支持。为迎接将来的挑战，你们需要尽自己的能力在学业、道德、体能和精神上不断充实自己，并要善于向支持着你的父母和老师寻求帮助和指导。



Being a student at Suzhou High School SIP is a great privilege and I ask each one of you to think carefully about the opportunities that you have been given in studying at this great school. Great things are expected of each one of you and I look forward to hearing of your continued successes.

身为苏州中学园区校的学生是非常优越的，我想请在场每一位同学都认真思考一下在这所伟大学校获得的各种学习机会。我们对于你们寄予厚望，并期待着在今后能继续听到你们成功的消息。
