英语【每日一练】Day44441.sophisticated [səˈfɪstɪkeɪtɪd]: “（机械设备等）复杂的”。【例】The equipment was extremely sophisticated and was monitored from a central control-panel.

这台设备极为复杂，由中央控制面板进行监控。

442.sound [saʊnd]:形容词，“健全合理”。【例】They are trained nutritionists who can give sound advice on diets.

他们都是受过训练的营养学家，能够在饮食方面提出合理的建议。

443.spare [speə(r)] :动词，“节约，留出空闲”，有时也表示“原谅，饶恕”。【例】She said that she could only spare 35 minutes for our meeting.

她说她只能抽出35分钟时间参加我们的会议。

444.a spell of time: “一段时间”。【例】Would I not give but my very life for a spell to reverse the flow of time to unveil this bit of history!

445.spot [spɒt]: 动词是“（偶然）发现”，名词是“现场”，词组为“on the spot”。【例】Vicenzo failed to spot the error.

【例】Mr Connolly is their 'man on the spot' and the person you can call if you have a complaint.

康诺利先生是他们的“现场代表”，要投诉可以和他联系。

446.square [skweə(r)]: 形容词，“公平，公正”。【例】That explanation squares with the facts, doesn't it

那个解释和事实相符，不是吗？

447.stage [steɪdʒ]:“阶段”。

【例】The way children talk about or express their feelings depends on their age and stage of development.

儿童谈论或表达自己感情的方式取决于他们的年龄和所处的发育阶段。

448.stake:这个词最原始的含义是“火刑柱”或者是“赌注”，但是在考试的时候，通常都以词组形式出现，

“at stake”表示“处于危险”，

“have a stake in something”则表示“在某件事务中得到利益”，这个词很新。

【例】At stake is the success or failure of world trade talks.

世界贸易谈判正处于成败的重要关头。

【例】All of us have a stake in the outcome of this struggle.

这场斗争的结果对我们大家都具有利害关系。

449.start: 动词，“惊吓，吃惊”。通常用被动语态“be started”。【例】She put the bottle on the table, banging it down hard. He started at the sound.

她砰的一声把瓶子放到了桌子上，把他吓了一跳。

450.state of mind: “思维方式”。

【例】He's in hospital, and in a confused state of mind.

他住院了，意识仍然不清。

【例】Your state of mind is a by-product of your beliefs and attitudes.

你的思想状态是你的信念和态度的副产品。
