Qu Yuan was a Chinese poet who lived during the Warring States period of ancient China. He is known for his patriotism and contributions to classical poetry, especially through the poems of the Chu Ci anthology.
《楚辞》和《诗经》是中国古代两大诗歌总集。屈原还作为传说中端午节的起源被人们铭记。
Together with the Shi Jing, the Chu Ci is one of the two great collections of ancient Chinese verse. He is also remembered as the supposed origin of the Dragon Boat Festival.
关于屈原生平的历史细节很少，他在《楚辞》中的许多诗歌的作者身份也长期受到质疑。但是，他被广泛认同曾写了《楚辞》中的著名诗歌《离骚》。
Historical details about Qu Yuan's life are few, and his authorship of many Chu Ci poems have been questioned at length.However, he is widely accepted to have written Li Sao, the most well-known of the Chu Ci poems.

This resulted in poems with more rhythm and latitude in expression.

Qu Yuan was minister of the State of Chu. In face of great pressure from the powerful Qin State, he advocated enriching the country and strengthening its military forces so as to fight against the Qin.
但是，他遭到以子兰为首的贵族反对，不久就被楚怀王罢免并放逐。在被流放期间，屈原仍旧关心着他的国家和百姓，并且写出了许多包括《离骚》、《天问》在内的具有深远影响的诗篇。
However, he was opposed by aristocrats headed by Zi Lan, and later deposed and exiled by King Huai. In his exiled days, he still cared much for his country and people and composed immortal poems including Li Sao , Tian Wen，which had far-reaching influences.
公元前278年，屈原听说了秦军最终攻破楚国都城的消息，所以他怀抱大石投汨罗江而死。这一天正好是中国农历五月初五。
In 278 BC, he heard the news that Qin troops had finally conquered Chu's capital, so he plunged himself into the Miluo River, clasping his arms to a large stone. The day happened to be the 5th of the 5th month in the Chinese lunar calendar.
屈原死后，楚国人民聚集到汨罗河边表达他们对他的崇敬之情。渔夫么也乘船入江去寻找他的尸体。
After his death, the people of Chu crowded to the bank of the river to pay their respects to him. The fishermen sailed their boats up and down the river to look for his body.
人们还将粽子、鸡蛋扔入江中防止鱼虾啮噬屈原的身体。这就是为什么后来人们在端午节这一天遵循赛龙舟、吃粽子、喝雄黄酒的传统戏孙。
People threw into the water zongzi and eggs to divert （转移）possible fish or shrimp（虾） from attacking his body.That's why people later followed the customs such as dragon boat racing, eating zongzi and drinking realgar wine on that day.
