I’m interested in Mongolia since I read a very interesting book called ”Suho’s white horse ” It’s a story about a Mongolian boy and it makes me be interested in Mongolian culture. After reading the book, I imagined an extensive plain with blue sky, beautiful horse and children who are playing at the plain. However, I heard that Mongolia is modernizing recently and it’s slightly different from what I imagined. Therefore, I thought this will be a valuable experience for me to learn Mongolian culture. In addition, I’m interested in the differences between China and Mongolia. I traveled Shanghai when I was 7 years old, I would really try to catch up with the recent China.

I am 16 years old. I was born in Japan and when I was 10 years old, I moved to California, United States. In United States, I learned how communication is hard when you don’t understand the language. Even though I couldn’t speak English, it was always fun to meet new people especially form different countries, and know about each other’s culture. So , at SCLISC, I expect to meet new friends, talk to them about Japan and learn about other countries, and create a peaceful relationship with people around the world.

Yuli Arakaki

I prefer connecting with people who lives in other countries through expressing myself without language. Especially, I’d like to communicate with dance and make many friends. I believe language is not only the way to communicate with others. During the stay, I want to accept the different cultures of other countries. Moreover, I will have responsibility as a representative from Japan.

I lived in America for about six years and the experience throughout the stay made a big difference in my life. By observing and learning their culture and ideas, my worldview expanded and I was able to look and compare two countries in an objective way. I would love to expand my worldview more and more by going to China next to see and learn their culture and ideas so that I can gain a wider view to think about international issues.
