This book studies China’s housing mode selection and the policies that the Chinese government made to intervene in the real estate market, such as the macro-control of the real estate market and housing security policies. In order to explore the relationship between real estate prices and macro-control, the book develops a dynamic stochastic general equilibrium (DSGE) model for the real estate sector, based on Chinese data and Bayesian estimation, and reveals the dynamic effects of macroeconomic shocks on real estate prices and other macroeconomic variables. Through the quantitative analysis of the DSGE model which has multiple structural shocks, it concludes quantitatively how different shocks change the real estate prices in different periods. More specifically, in terms of land policy, it points out what leads to the macro-control failure of the land market by analyzing the government-monopolized primary land market system. In terms of monetary policy, it compares the two real estate market regulation measures, i.e., monetary policy tools and credit policy tools, based on the DSGE model mentioned above, and suggests that the government should give priority to increase the credit down payment ratio, when it has to regulate the real estate prices without affecting the macro-economy, and then use the interest rate as a means of regulation when the down payment ratio fails to adjust the case. Finally, this book examines whether China’s monetary policy can cope with real estate price volatility, putting forward that, under the current monetary policy, a moderate response to the fluctuations in real estate pricing can effectively reduce the welfare losses caused by economic fluctuations.

Sponge city
construction is an important way to realize China’s national development
strategy of ecological civilization. The green, natural, and ecological spaces
in both urban and rural areas are the main sites for applying the sponge city
technologies and their structural adjustment and functional optimization are
the main means to realize sponge city construction. The book by Che Shengquan,
Yu Bingqin, and Yan Wei identifies the concept, significance, and value of
sponge city, reviews the development process of sponge city, and sums up the
related research theories of sponge city. It puts forward the investigation,
evaluation, and analytical methods of rainwater storage capacity regarding the
green spaces in a sponge city, develops the strategy for optimizing the green
pattern and the index system of sponge city construction, and selects the
appropriate low-impact development technologies. Furthermore, based on the
rainfall simulation experiments, as well as the implementation of the
technologies in some cases, it proposes some adaptable technical models which
