过去22 年，年均经济增长率达14%。去年，全市国内生产总什2383.07亿元，人均国内生产总值3.45万元，约合4175 美元，居全国十大城市前列。//

In the past 22 years, our average annual economic growth rate stoodat 14%. Last year, our GDP was RMB238.07 billion yuan, with per capita GDPreaching 34,500 yuan (about USD 4,175), which ranked Guangzhou among thehighest in the top 10 cities in the nation.

随着经济的发展，城市基础设施、城市环境、城市景观建设也取得了前所未有的成效。广州作为人才、资金、技术、信息等生产要素的区域性配置中心的地位和作用日趋突出，有力地支持和带动了珠江三角洲工业化进程和城市群的崛起。//

As economy grows, our infrastructure facilities, urban environmentand cityscape shaping have all achieved remarkable progress. As an increasinglyprominent regional logistic and distribution center of such production elementsas talents, capitals, technology and information, Guangzhou has stronglysupported and spurred the industrialization process and the rise of cityclusters in the Pearl River Delta.

One of the secrets why we have made such wonderful progress is thatwe have been trying to heighten our awareness of competition in the globaleconomy, adhere to our export-oriented strategy, get actively involved in themainstream world economy, create a broad, multi-dimensional and multi-layeropen economic framework, internationalize our economy, and stimulate the rapidsocial and economic progress.

据统计，改革开放以来，广州外贸出口年均增长达21%，2000 年，全市进出口总额已233.8 亿美元，其中出口118.8 亿美元，出口市场达200 多个国家和地区。全市历年累计实际上利用外资245 亿美元，在全国十大城市中排第二位。//

According to statistics,since the implementation of the opening-up policy, our export has registered anaverage annual growth of21%. In 2000, the total amount of our export and importreached USD 23.38 billion, of which export accounted for UDD 11.82 billion. Ourcumulative actual utilization of foreign capital is USD 24.5 billion, rankingsecond among the top 10 cities in China.
