“Where East Meets West” Overview

“双语学校或民办学校的关注点应该在融合课程的安排上面。全部照搬国外教材肯定是不行的,最好的方式是做融合课程,取中国的精华,取西方的精华融在一起,这个取决于每一个学校自己的教研怎么做。”

国际教育到了中国必须走的一条路就是本土化。这一过程中也不要忽略一个孩子对于中国本土文化和对中国这个国家的理解度。”经过这次访学我们更真实地感受到:协和的学校都正走在这条正确但又充满挑战的道路上,实现“世界标准,中国话语,协和特色”的教育。

The key to the success of an international school is not purely a western curriculum  or eastern one. The best way is to have them merged into one with their own characteristic.

How to implement the international education to be localized is a challenging journey.Xiehe is on the right track realizing an education of “global standard, Chinese voice, and  Xiehe feature”.




第一站 虹桥海富幼儿园 

Internal Visit in Fortune Kindergarten

青树掩映,寂静之中平添了一份温馨。不论是亲切问候的老师,还是天真可爱的孩子,在我们走进校园的刹那,都给我们带来宾至如归的感觉!干净、温暖的会议室,最先让我惊艳的不是园区老师们精心准备的零食,而是那粉色、可爱的餐巾纸。细细一看,纸上印着“happy birthday”的字样,配上缤纷的蛋糕和萌爆的小熊。

外籍园长则向我们介绍了幼儿园的育人理念和课程设置。海富培养出来的孩子不仅是全球公民,更是本土文化的杰出代表。他们在英语学习上会和学习汉语一样自信。他们身上将具备思想开放、反应灵敏、有道德、有好奇心和乐于合作这些特质。多元的课程则是达成这一教育目标的最好载体。

中外两位园长的介绍则将我们的思绪全部锁定到理性层面。不同的文化背景、不同的思维方式,在日常不断的碰撞中实现了最大程度的“求同”,各退一步,换位思考,并不是妥协所致,恰是为了更好地去了解彼此,实现共赢。

Surrounding by a green shades, it  seems warmer in the peace. No matter  it’s caring teachers or cute children,we feel warmly welcomed after we  stepped into the campus. What first  impressed us is not a clean meeting  room, but rather pink napkins. When  you look closer, there is printed“Happy Birthday” along with colorful  cupcakes.

The principal introduced about their inculcation principle  and curriculum. The children being educated  there are not only international citizen, but also outstanding  remarks of local culture. They are as vibrant  when speaking English as speaking Chinese. We see  their open-mindedness, moral conscience, curiosity and  corporation from many perspectives. A diversified curriculumis the best carrier for achieving these merits.

Two principals’ introduction locked our mind onto rational thinking: people with  distinctive cultural background and different thinking mode reach agreement after  transpositonal consideration; they achieves win-win from understanding each other better.


第二站 虹桥校区

Internal Visit in Hongqiao Campus

主建筑“龙楼”和国际课程所在的“狮楼”遥相呼应,二者的名字来源于协和校徽的图案。这两幢建筑与“缪斯剧场”三足鼎立,是学生学习生活最重要的场所。透过名字看文化,初入者也能迅速明了学校中西文化融合的教育理念。龙楼正厅的布置又让人眼前为之一亮。红色印花的地毯,洋气典雅的沙发充裕着浓浓的国际元素,而背景家具却又是中国古典的风格。小小的角落也成了宣传校园文化的一个重要载体,学校教育者的用心可见一斑。

中西融合的特色在先锋课程体系中得到了淋漓尽致的体现!精英融合课程则是以上海二期课改为主轴来运转的,中国特色是其基本色。三类课程,并行不悖,犹如龙楼、狮楼、缪斯剧场的存在,各有特色,却又是虹桥校区不可或缺的一份子!它们撑起了虹桥的无限精彩!

The main building corresponds to  the international curriculum from  far away, their name originated  from the icon of Xiehe system.These two buildings along with the  auditorium is the most important  space for studying. Looking deeply  into the name we see its campus  culture.In the main hall we are impressed  deeply. The blanket with red  stamping, classical sofa with international  elements and background  furniture of Chinese style carries a  remarkable symbol of its curriculum.

The merge of Chinese and Western  culture are shown clearly in here.Elite curriculum runs according tothe Shanghai two-term curriculum.Three different curriculum geos  along with each other just analogousto their three main halls, eachpossess unique feather. They build  the magnificence of the rainbow!




第三站 教科校区

Internal Visit in Jiaoke Campus

下午我们来到了教科校区。走进校门我们先看到了一座孔子像,这与我们后来了解到的教科实验中学是一所历史悠久的完全中学,与教科院一直保持了紧密的联系这些深厚的学术背景非常吻合。学生学习成果的展示尤其突凸显了学校艺术特长,人文博雅以及双语的特色。

学校的图书馆整体色调温暖舒适但又富于变化,图书摆放整齐,阅读区域明亮整洁,又有学生作品点缀其中,严谨又不失活泼。从校园的硬件环境到软件布置再到课程的实施,教科校区都让人感到一种多元和谐,积极严谨的风格。

In the afternoon we came to the Jiaoke campus. We saw a status of Confucius and we realized  this school possessed long history. It has kept close contact with the Teaching Academy  which aligns with its academic background . The display of student’ work also implies the feature  of their education, morally or linguistically.

The atmosphere of the  School’s library is set to be  warm and cozy. All the  books are placed orderly, the  place of reading are tidied  with display of students’work. From the hardware to  the software, Jiaoke gives a  sense of diversified harmony  and positive style.
