I’m trying to wrap my head around why I’m standing here and he is not. And we all know why. It’s not Tim Duncan to bring any attention to himself. We've been saying it for 19 years and he really only cared about doing the best job he could basketball-wise and being who he was for his teammates and being somebody who loved, you know, his family, so that's really who he is.

我（波波维奇）在想为什么今天只有我站在这，而他(邓肯)不在。其实我们都知道为什么。蒂姆邓肯不是一个想把注意力放在自己身上的人。过去的19年我们都一直这么说。他只关心在篮球方面做到最好；为了队友做本色的自己；做一个热爱家庭的人。他真的就是这样子。

And I can honestly tell you. My dinner would be with Timmy and it would be because he's the most real, consistent, true person I've ever met in my life. He is so genuine that it blows your mind like Buckley or Vidal would, you know, in an avant-garde, sort of , way. To spend time with Timmy is really sublime in many ways. People don't know about his cleverness. You know, I think of people like John Cleese, you know, clever and incisive, sarcastic, nobody knows that about Timmy.

老实跟你们说，我的晚餐将会是和Timmy(蒂姆邓肯的昵称)一起。因为他是我这辈子见过最真实、一致、纯真的人。他是这么的真诚以至于他能像Buckley 和Vidal一样以一种非常前卫的方式让你心醉神迷。从很多角度来说，跟邓肯在一起的时间是非常庄严的。人们不是很了解他的聪明。我说的是像John Cleese(喜剧演员，作家，电影制片人)那样的人，非常的聪明、深刻、针砭时弊。没有人知道这样的邓肯。

I can be on a game and ask him why he is not rebounding in a relatively stern way and really get on him in front of everybody. And on the way back to the court, he'll say “thanks for the motivation, Pop” you know, “thanks for the support, Pop”.  Then he'll turn away with his eyes up in the air and we'll both start laughing. And people don't see those things, so, but his teammates have and that's why his teammates love him because he's been the best teammates that anybody could ever imagine.

我可以在一场比赛（暂停时）中质问他为什么不用一种更强悍的方式抢篮板；在很多人面前给他施加压力。然后，他在走回球场时会说“波波，谢谢你的激励”；“波波，谢谢你的支持”。转身之后，他就会翻白眼。然后我们两个都开始笑。人们看不到这些。但是他的队友可以看到。这就是为什么他的队友非常爱他。因为他成为了任何人可以想象到的最好队友。

And we're all grateful to him. It's not a show of humility in any way, say, sense or form. People who grew up with me know me. I would not be standing here if it weren't for Tim Duncan. You know I'd be in the Budweiser league, some place in America, fat, and still trying to play basketball or coach basketball, but he is why I'm standing here.

我们都非常感激他。（说这些）并没有任何一点的谦虚。跟我一起长大的人都知道，如果不是蒂姆邓肯，我今天不会站在这里。你知道，我可能会在美国某个地方的半职业联赛，胖的很，然后试图打球或者做教练。但是他是我今天能够站在这里的原因。

So in all those respects, he's irreplaceable, can't happen. You know we're all unique and I guess each one of us is unique, but he's been so important to so many people that it's just mind-boggling. And to think that he's going to be gone makes it really difficult to imagine walking into practice, going to a game, getting on a bus, taking a piece of carrot cake, whatever it might be.

所以，从所有的这些方面来说。他是不可替代的，不可能。你知道我们每一个人都是独特的，但是他对很多的人来说是这么的重要。所以这（邓肯退役）令人震惊。知道他要离开，使得你很难去想象（没有他的情况下）走进训练馆，去到一场比赛，登上球队大巴，吃一块胡萝卜蛋糕，等等。
