Mexican artist Cristiam Ramos is good at painting on wings of preserved butterflies. He firstly spends several hours cleaning their wings, and then painstakingly paints classical paintings on them.

Butterfly wings are very small, which just 12cm in length each, and the texture isn’t altogether right for painting. So, Ramos has to use a magnifying glass to get the details right of the paintings. He spends 56 hours painting each wing on average, meticulously applying one brushstroke at a time.

Ramos says he’s been fascinated by butterflies ever since he was a child. Now, the preserved butterflies he uses have been donated to him by his fans from across the world.

Ramos’ work that clearly stands out from the rest is a butterfly with two Da Vinci paintings on each wing—one is the Mona Lisa, and the other is the Lady with an Ermine.

Most lovers hope it won’t rain on their big day, and they certainly don’t expect the worst flooding in decades. However, a couple, from the UK, unfortunately encountered this situation. But they decided to tie the knot despite homes, cars and roads submerged in rising flood waters.

On the wedding site of 29-year-old Hayley Caunce and 31-year-old Jamie Traynor, the registrar waded to the ceremony, just making it there two hours late. And there was no dance floor, no DJ and no photo booth as businesses were unable to attend. But what was moving was that most of guests came there notwithstanding the rain; the photographer took a tractor to the scene, and the cake even received a police escort.

Outdoor-loving Jamie and Hayley brought along their welly boots and after they finished, the photographer persuaded them to pose in the middle of a flooded road.

But the photographer of six years was rewarded with stunning shots of bedraggled guests and romantic photographs of one set of newlyweds kissing in a flooded road in their wellies.

Emma Postlethwaite was stunned when she found an enormous 167g egg which was laid by her hen at her home in Staffordshire, Britain.

When Emma cracked the giant egg over a pan, she found another fully-formed one inside. She then cracked the smaller egg, which also has a yolk and white inside.

Emma said she keeps four hens in the garden and eats the eggs they lay. The “egg inside an egg” was laid by an eight-month-old hen. She said, “I opened the coop and saw it, I just couldn’t believe how big it was. I have not seen anything like this, and I did not know it could happen really.”

The extremely rare occurrence is known as a counter-peristalsis contraction and is caused when the hen is in the process of forming an egg in her oviduct and another oocyte that becomes the yolk of the egg—is released too soon.

Usually hens release an egg cell every 18 to 26 hours, but sometimes a second one is released by the ovary before the first egg has completed its journey.
