这是平遥大展第三次策划女性摄影师群展。

作品如其人。虽然与大部分参展摄影师素未谋面,在阅读她们作品的过程中、在关于展览的邮件微信往来中,我仍能感受到她们身上洋溢的独立、自信、笃定,关于生活,关于艺术。

王家卫导演的电影《一代宗师》中说,习武之人有三个阶段:见自己,见天地,见众生。实际上,每个阶段有每个阶段的味道。这些女摄影师的作品,有的向外观物,有的向内观心,或者开阔深邃,或者率性自然,均表达独到,视角独特,充满创造力和想象力。而摄影,是她们对话和表达的有效媒介。

她们和她们的作品,让我想到一个汉字:。漾,通常用来形容水的样子,可以是一种形态,一种样貌,也可以是一种感觉,一种态度。可意会,不可言传。

 

从中,或许也可传达出女性艺术家对于中国当代摄影艺术实践演变的独特意义。

—Group Exhibition of FemalePhotographers at China Pingyao International Photography Festival 2016

Chen Aixin, Dou Yawei, He Qing, Li Hongying, Liu Huiying, Long Yimeng, Sun Yinan, Tu Jingyi, Wu Li, Xu Hao,Yang Liu, Yi Mi, Yin Na, Zhang Yan, Zhao Yue, Zheng Meizhen

This is the third group exhibition planned by the PIP Festival organizer for female photographers.

Works mirror their photographers. I have never met most of the participating photographers, however, I can still experience their lives and arts overflowing with independence, confidence and assurance by seeing their works and corresponding with them with regard to the exhibition.

In the movieThe Grandmaster directedby Karwai Wong, we are told that “one master experiences three stages —being oneself, knowing the world and doing for the public”.  As a matter of fact, there is its own feature at each stage. For the works of these female photographers, some zero in on the outside world, some focus on the inner world. They either touch something profound, or are random and natural, but all original in their expressions and unique in their perspectives, full of creativity and imagination. Photography has become a bridge over which dialogues and expressions are reached.

Their works and they themselves remind me of one Chinese character: , which meansRippling and is usually used to describe water. It can be a form, a type of appearance, or a feeling,and an attitude. This can be seen but not expressed.

And these works probably can convey the special meaning of these female artists towards the evolution of China’s contemporary photographic art practice as well.
