清明扫墓新方式：思念多一点，浪费少一些（文字版）

Hello~各位亲爱的同学们大家好。从今天起我们转用听新闻的方式来学英语。

首先，要跟大家分享一个坏消息和一个好消息。坏消息是天气预报说今天开始，湿哒哒的回南天又要回归了，大家又进入了衣服永远不干的剧情了；好消息就是，这周周日开始连放三天清明节假期，大家又可以出去浪啦~

既然清明节快到了，我们今天就来学学关于清明节的一些英文表达方式。

如果我们要向外国人介绍清明节，可以直接说 Qingming Festival。对于外国人来说，他们是没有 Qingming Festival 这个节日的，但他们有一个节日的时间跟我们的差不多也是在四月初，叫复活节，Easter。

如果有外国人问起我们：“What are you doing at the Qingming Festival? ”（清明节是要干什么啊？）”我们就可以说：“We commemorate our ancestors during the Qingming Festival. ”（ 我们在清明节纪念我们的祖先。）Commemorate，纪念；ancestor，祖先。

清明扫墓的传统习俗各地不同。以广东为例，以前是全家人浩浩荡荡地上山扫墓，烧烧纸钱，烧烧纸房子车子手机。（Burn paper money，paper houses, cars and smartphones）外国人也没有“扫墓”这种说法，所以“扫墓”就直接翻译说sweep the tomb。因此，清明节的另外一个说法就是Tomb Sweeping Day，也就是扫墓日的意思。

当今网络时代大家都离不开电脑和手机，当然也出现了符合这个时代的新型扫墓形式。People have found new ways to pay respects to the dead. Pay respects to sb. 是向某人致敬的意思，还可以说 pay homage to。最早的网上纪念馆（online memorial hall）在2000年就上线了，而现在网上有越来越多类似的纪念馆和祭奠网站，提倡后人使用更环保的祭祀方式。后人，最简单的英文说法是later generations；环保的，environmentally friendly。如果你准备在清明假期出门旅行，又不想错过扫墓，也可以考虑下用微信扫墓这个方式。

好了，现在我们一段英文来总结一下我们刚才所介绍的清明节的情况：

TheTomb Sweeping Day usually falls in early April. We Chinese peoplecommemorate our ancestors on the day, which is also called the Qingming Festival. Paying respects to ancestors is a tradition for a long time. But some practices are outdated. For example, some peopleburn paper moneyon street corners or around the tomb. And it is more than just paper money that they burn to "please" their ancestors.Paper houses, cars and smartphones are popular choices. The practices actually pollute the environment and may cause fires.

In the age of the Internet, people have found new ways to pay homage to ancestors. For instance, the firstonline memorial hall appeared in 2000, which helps keep the voices ofancestors. Whenever people miss their ancestors, they just need to visit the hall online to offer flowers or play a piece of music. This is anenvironmentally friendly way for thelater generations to pay respects.
