Below are five tips for writing better science papers, excerpted from Tips for Writing Better Science Papers published by Chemistry Views and written by Richard Threlfall, Managing Editor of Asian Journal of Organic Chemistry.

下面是五个教你写出高质量科学论文的“小窍门”，节选自刊载于《化学评论》的《怎样撰写高质量科学论文》一文，作者为《亚洲有机化学期刊》主编Richard Threlfall。

1.Don’t underestimate the importance of your cover letter.

You know the importance of first impressions.  A good cover letter explains to the editor the critical question your research addresses, how you have answered this question, and why it is of significance to the wider community.

第一，不要低估投稿信的重要性我们都知道第一印象的重要性，一封好的投稿信可以向期刊编辑解释你研究的核心问题，你是如何解答这个问题的，而你的研究又为何对于大众是有意义的。

Cover letter:投稿信，内容主要有未发表声明、作者原创声明以及论文亮点等。主要作用就是让编辑在第一时间了解文章版权、发表以及论文内容等情况。

2.  Keep the title simple: be consistent, not too technical, and concise.

第二，论文题目一定要简单：连贯、精炼，又不晦涩难懂

3.Don’t cram the abstract with details.

What you want is to grab the reader’s attention with the first statement, add a few of the most important details, then leave them with the overall message of the manuscript in the last sentence.

第三，不要用研究的细节来堆砌摘要

撰写摘要的目的在于一眼就吸引读者的注意力，你可以在摘要中添加一些重要的研究细节，最后再对研究进行总结、概括。

4.Introduce your research with its importance.

The reader needs to know the background to your research and, most importantly, why your research is important in this context. What critical question does your research address? Why should the reader be interested?

第四，陈述研究的重要性

读者需要知道你的研究背景，更重要的是，为什么你的研究在这种背景下是重要的。你的研究提出了什么关键性的问题？为什么读者要对你的研究感兴趣？

5.You might be tempted to share all your war stories…but don’t.

When reporting results, keep your focus and make your R&D concise but informative.

第五，你可能想在文章中写出你克服研究困难的所有细节，但是请你不要这样做

在撰写研究结论时，时刻围绕核心点，使你的研究精炼的同时又信息量丰富。
