国际安徒生奖由国际少年儿童读物联盟于1956年设立，由丹麦女王玛格丽特二世赞助，以童话大师安徒生的名字命名。每两年评选一次，被誉为“小诺贝尔文学奖”。国际安徒生奖为作家奖，一生只能获得一次，表彰的是该作家一生的文学造诣和建树。

Chinese children's fiction writer Cao Wenxuan on Monday won the Hans Christian Andersen Prize 2016 at the Bologna Children's Book Fair in Italy.

在本周一的意大利博洛尼亚童书展上，中国儿童文学作家曹文轩获得了2016年国际安徒生奖。

Cao was the first Chinese writer to ever win and be shortlisted in the Hans Christian Andersen Prize, which is the highest international recognition given to an author and an illustrator of children's books.

曹文轩是第一位入围并获得国际安徒生奖的中国作家。该奖项是对童书作家和插画师的最高国际认可。

The prize has been given since 1956 by the International Board on Books for Young People (IBBY), the leading international organization for the promotion of children's books, and is awarded every other year to a living author and illustrator whose complete works have made a lasting contribution to children's literature.

这一奖项是由旨在促进儿童读物发展的国际组织--国际儿童图书评议会自1956年起颁发的。该奖项每两年授予给那些在世作家和插画师对儿童文学作品有持续贡献的作品。

The selection criteria for the Hans Christian Andersen Prize, which can be awarded only once in life, include the aesthetic and literary qualities of writing and illustrating as well as the ability to see things from the child's point of view and the ability to stretch the child's curiosity and imagination.

一生只能获得一次的国际安徒生奖的选择标准包括：文学创作的美学与文学性、从孩子的角度看事物的能力以及孩子的好奇心和想象力的延伸能力。

"The unanimous choice of the jury, Cao writes beautifully about the complex lives of children facing great challenges," said Patricia Aldana, the Hans Christian Andersen Jury President 2016, announcing the winner of the prize's author award. "All of my stories are set in China, all of them are Chinese stories, but at the same time they are the stories of humankind," Cao said after his award's announcement.

2016年国际安徒生奖评委会主席帕奇·亚当娜在宣布获奖作家时称，曹文轩用诗意如水的笔触，描写小主人公在巨大挑战面前所呈现的复杂人生，得到了评委会全体委员的一致认可。获奖消息公布后，曹文轩表示："我讲了一个个地地道道的中国故事，但同时也是属于全人类的故事。"

For the 2016 award, 28 authors and 29 illustrators were nominated by IBBY in March. Only five authors were shortlisted as finalists, and Cao, renowned for "Grass Hut," "Fire Mark" and many other works, was among them.

2016年国际安徒生奖提名在今年3月份由国际儿童图书评议会公布，共有28位作家和29位插画家入围。最终只有五名作家入围，凭借《草房子》、《火印》等许多作品而被读者熟知的曹文轩就是其中之一。
