1.       be lost in

l   =be occupied with, be absorbed in, immersed oneself in, lose oneself in, be indulged in, be addicted in

2.       estimate

l   V-T If you estimate a quantity or value, you make an approximate judgment or calculation of it.

N-COUNT An estimate is an approximate calculation of a quantity or value.

l   estimate, evaluate & value 都有“估计”的意思

estimate 指先于实际的测量、计算或测试而作 的某种估计或估价,可以是经过仔细考虑,也可以是随意的。

It was estimated that there were more than 2,250,000 spiders in one acre of grass field.

evaluate很少表示用金钱来估计某物的市场 价值,而是对其相对或内在价值的评定。

value指估计某物的价值、价格。

l   If something comes up, it happens unexpectedly. 意外发生 2. If something comes up in a conversation or meeting, it is mentioned or discussed. 被提及;被讨论

l   come across偶遇,碰到 come along 迚展,出现come down 流传下来,落魄,失势come over从进处来,过来;短暂造访 come through经历(困难),安然度过 come up with想出(计划、答案、回答等)

5.       urge

l   urge sb. to do sth. /urge that… (SYNONYMS at recommend) 敦促，力劝

l   urge sth. (on/upon sb.) 大力推荐；竭力主张

l   urge sb./sth. + adv./prep.(formal) 驱赶，鞭策

l   urge sb. on 鼓励；激励；为……加油

l   (informal)很坏的；极讨厌的very bad or unpleasant

l   严格地指来往信件，通信联系。是名词词性。

l   handle correspondence, get correspondence.

10.    available

l   可获得的：readily/freely/publicly/generally ~ 可以容易／免费／让公众／普遍得到的。

l   make～；become～

l   有空的。

11.    choke

l   n.窒息；哽噎；（车辆发动机的）进气门；哽噎声；v.阻塞；哽噎；使窒息；（尤指感情激动而）说不出话来

l   growth ～ 抑制增长；～up 哽咽；～smoke 掐掉烟

12.    not much of a

l   not particularly good at something, or not a very good example of something

13.    might/may (just) as well

l   主要用于表示提议或劝告，意为“不妨”。

l   might比may语气更不确定。

l   e.g.: If that is the case, I may as well try. 既然如此，我不妨试一试。

l   might as well 还可将一种不愉快的情况同另一种不愉快的情况作比较，含有抱怨的意味，通常译为“还不如”，此时不用 may as well。

14.    hang out

l   (infml; used mainly in AmE) stay in or near a place, for no particular reason, not doing very much.闲逛
