在勃艮第产区，有家顶级酒庄叫"高顿－查理曼酒庄"，是法国著名的白葡萄酒酒庄。传说，这里原产上好的红葡萄酒，公元8世纪时，法国国王查理曼大帝饮用此酒，怕此酒染红了他的大白胡子，下令改红为白，才有了我们今天的白葡萄酒

查理曼大帝就是扑克牌中红桃K的原型

K，即为King，帝王。

查理曼Charlemagne的”magne——曼”本身就是帝王之意，所以应称作”查理大帝”，而非”查理曼大帝”。

The “magne”of Charlemagne itself means of king, so we should call King-Charlie，instead of King-Charlemagne.

查理曼统一了欧洲，土地多的不得了，葡萄园也都是他的，波尔多、勃艮第、安茹、昂热、莱茵河、阿尔萨斯、罗纳河谷、普罗旺斯等等等等。他很关心葡萄种植和储存，领主们每年都要汇报当地葡萄酒的产量和品质。这一举措，极大地推动了各地葡萄酒的发展。
